Family dynamics are so interesting.

Friday night (after a later start than I'd planned), we headed up for Philly. It was a relatively peaceful drive, although the one time we stopped for food, it entailed a hike over half of creation to find the food advertised on the highway sign as "at this exit". Sigh.

Then we got scraped off the highway at an unplanned exit, so we had a brief driving tour of north Philly before triangulating back to my sister's place. They were nominally asleep when we arrived although my mom had waited up for us. She's in town for three weeks helping take care of baby Zac while my sister finishes her medical degree, and has been having a great time. We were taking this opportunity to see her while she was on this coast and also to visit the new star of the family scene, Zac the monster baby.

Regular readers will recall that Zac was largish at birth. Well, he's up over 12 pounds and can hold his head up for brief periods, at six weeks old. My sister jokingly referred to having seen a "normal" baby earlier this week, as opposed to this giant mutant creature. But he's still mostly adorable and sweet-tempered.

But he's definitely changing the dynamics in the family.

Anyhow, we had a nice visit with the family, took a long walk, went to the zoo, played Killer Bunnies. PS got to take a wander through a classic car show. We ate traditional Philly foods including water ice (pronounced wudderice) and cheesesteaks. We did a little home maintenance at my dad's and scored a rosebush and some mulch in return. We managed to find the Terryble One's maternal home and collect her hutch, and made it home without much incident. Tired today, but that's to be expected.

Should probably do work now....
