It was a really great long weekend. Probably the best weekend of the summer, in many ways.

I didn't get much done, but I didn't feel at all guilty about it!

Lessee, Friday I made Thai shrimp salad for the husband (we really like it!) and then we went out to look for printer cartridges, and I bought my very own copy of CivIII and the expansion set. Mmmm. Gaming crack.

Saturday we went to see Finding Nemo at the Temple of Karnak, then came home and Steve & Corun cut WonderStone while I did various chore-like things (computer fu, updated financial stuff, paid bills, etc.) We had an impromptu Knight of the Heart planning meeting, followed by yummy dinner with CPM at the Mongolian Grille (good for Atkins! Curried squid!!) We came home and did some more house-stuff, then hit the sack.

Sunday I finished critiques on two stories for a friend, then the BlueDuke and family came over and we went off to a Baysox game.

I'd forgotten how lovely minor-league baseball is. It's very family-friendly (there's even a warning at the beginning about watching your language!) and mellow. We drank some adult beverages, ate pretzels and peanuts and hot dogs, then ice cream and funnel cake later. The game was good (Reading Phillies over the Baysox 10-9 in 10 innings), and there were entertaining activities between innings (mostly for kids). After the game, any kid who wants to can come down and run the bases. There were lots of balls into the stands (it's a pretty cosy stadium) and some good plays (and some lousy ones), and we generally had an excellent time.

Afterwards, we ate much Italian food (served by a cute Russian waitress), and staggered home for an evening of board games in honor of the Smatchet's birthday.

Yesterday, my London flatmates Michael & Kristen came over and we headed out to the Maryland Renaissance Fest. The weather looked a little suspicious early in the day, but by midday it was lovely and sunny (if hot!) As is traditional, we ate entirely too much bad-for-us food, drank a lot of cider and generally had a good time. We had a nice visit with the folks from Wolgemut in between sets (and got to see two and a half of their sets), saw Shakespeare Skum doing Tag Team Romeo & Juliet, watched the end of Taming of the Shrew and part of the Rogues concert, and wandered hither and yon looking at shops and watching the freak show. It was a worthwhile day, if somewhat expensive.

Later there were showers and computer games and much blissful sleeping to prepare for the work week....
